The D.Daskalopoulos Collection continues its commitment to making contemporary art accessible to wider audiences through a series of new donations to four museums in Greece and Scotland. Through these donations, the Collection further supports the growth of public museum collections, with works by leading contemporary artists, promoting the visibility of contemporary Greek creativity within the international cultural sphere.
The new donation comprises a total of 51 works for three museums in Greece, including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete, MOMUS – Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, and the National Gallery of Greece. In addition, three works will be donated to the National Galleries of Scotland.
Through this new donation from the D.Daskalopoulos Collection, the museums of art in Athens, Crete, Thessaloniki and Edinburgh join an international network of museums that have received works from the Collection. This initiative seeks to ensure the long-term preservation of the works while sustaining an ongoing dialogue with the art of the future.
For more than 35 years, the D.Daskalopoulos Collection has served as a guardian of art and human creativity through an open lending policy, reflecting the collector’s belief that art achieves its greatest meaning when shared with the widest possible audience. As a result of this vision, the majority of the Collection – more than 350 works – was donated to four major museums (EMST, Tate, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in Chicago) in 2022. In 2025, 6 works were donated to the Guggenheim Bilbao, and this practice continues with other major cultural institutions.
